The many faces of Harrison (Halloween edition)

It's October, which means it's time for Halloween!  Harrison's FIRST Halloween.  Sure, he doesn't care, but since he is DEFINITELY our last baby I can't help but to buy all the "first" outfits- so I bought him a "My First Halloween" outfit-

He was a little ham this day, so I took advantage...

just relaxin'

Gimme a hug!

Don't you just want to squeeze him!?

And then I had to get skeleton pajamas...

because his brothers had skeleton pajamas.

They are still enamored by their little brother.  Truly.
I had to keep asking them to look at me because they want to do is stare at Harrison.  Still.

And one more, just because.

So, of course, I had to get him a pumpkin shirt because his brothers had one of those too.
Harrison was LOVING the brother time!

Then I ran across this little "batty for daddy" number, and I just couldn't resist.

And I can't just get a "batty for daddy" shirt when I found a "batty for mommy" shirt too.
(he wouldn't pay any attention to me even though I assured him his shirts said he was "batty" for me)

And then there was a cute little pumpkin bib that I found for less than a $1 before he was born...

That's all the Halloween attire I bought, I promise!
But... I love his little round belly in this orange shirt.  It's a little round pumpkin belly!

Yeah... I was swindled and hoodwinked by the makers of children's clothing this year.
But he is my last...
And he's sooooooo cute...
Worth it!

Maybe a new birthday tradition...

I just have one brother and his birthday is 5 days before mine, so it's been pretty easy to keep up with him. Jim, however, has 3 brothers and a sister, and now 3 of his siblings are married, so the birthday's just keep adding up. My forgetful brain can NOT keep up. Anyway, I've been looking for a cute and thoughtful way to send birthday greetings to all the aunts and uncles since we've been married. Almost 4 years later I think I finally have an idea! My idea is to make a birthday sign every year and have the boys take a picture with the sign for whatever family member has a birthday. Then send the person the picture with birthday greetings. Then every year they will have a different picture with the boys as they grow and I won't feel guilty missing anyone's birthday without proper acknowledgement. I also thought that it would make a great photo album for us if we keep each person's birthday picture with the boys and watch their growth progression ...

Can I finally join the club??

I have issues with making anything with yeast.  It scares me.  I tried making rolls or bread in home-ec as a kid and it was a FLOP!  Since, I stay far away from baking goods with yeast, so of course, that includes homemade bread.  I LOVE homemade bread, but I've never made it.  I realize I'm not a real Mormon wife and mother because of this huge flaw, but I've managed to make it as a so-so wife and mom with this awful glitch in my character.  Then I came across an "easy" recipe for honey wheat bread (thanks for posting it on fb Liz Nuffer) and decided to conquer my fear of yeast. First things first, I had to buy yeast- there are 394 different kinds of yeast.  No one warned me how many different kinds there were!  My fear began to overcome me, but I gathered all my strength and picked the most interestingly plain kind I could find.  Hopefully it would do the trick! I followed the recipe, but it said to wait until the yeast "frothed". ...

Easter 2012

This year we had our big family Easter dinner on Friday because Grandma had to work on Sunday. I tried out a new recipe for dessert which I found on Pinterest (of course). It's a super rich chocolate brownie cake. It turned out great, but was a little too rich for my taste. However, I really think that if you are a true die-hard chocolate lover then you will LOVE this recipe . I thought I was a true die-hard chocolate lover, but this cake beat me. A good friend of mine makes Easter cupcakes with her kids every year. I saw them on her blog last year and I thought they were so cute! This year we made them at our house to hand out to our neighbors. Jackson helped with the baking and decorating. He has some mad grass and egg decorating skills! He also decorated the plates that we handed out the cupcakes on. Our neighbors were quite impressed with his work. For some reason I still get these little momentary realizations that I'm a mother of two, and I get this rush of emo...
