Friends, fish, and fun!

Jackson's bestie at school is a little girl named Emily.  She is the adorable friend that sent Jackson a get well picture in the mail when he missed school.  So so so cute!!  Today we met Emily and her brother, Jacob, at the Science Spectrum for a fun playdate before school starts on Wednesday.

First, we started with the bubbles, of course, they are Jackson's favorite.  I didn't get a picture of it, but Emily and Jackson were holding hands as they ran to the bubbles.  love.

Next, we headed downstairs for some fishy fun!  Here are all the kiddos checking out Dory, Nemo, and Marlin.

I think this is adorable because everyone was looking at Emily, she must have said something VERY important.

Next we all crowded into a boat.  I couldn't get everyone to look and smile at the same time.  I don't know how big families take family pictures.  boggles. my. mind.

Then the littlest boys took a minute to look at the snakes.

ALL the boys checking out the fish.  Jackson was telling the little boys the story of Nemo and pointing out his dad, Marlin.

Next, we headed to the ginormous teeth.  Everyone hung out in the big mouth...

While Austin brushed up on how to clean teeth.  "Brushed up"- I am hilarious!  ...even if I am the only one who appreciates my English humor.

Next, we went back upstairs for some preschool room adventures!  Emily and Jackson played in the grocery store.  The conversation went a little something like this-
Jackson:  Emily, it's time to pay for the food!
Emily:  No!!  I'm still shopping!!
That sounds about right.  Women love to shop.  Men love to get out asap.

Then Austin discovered he could see his brother through the window of the Veterinary room he was playing in.  He was so excited about this discovery!

Ball goes in...

Ball comes out.

We had such a good time with Emily, Jacob, and their mom, Amelia.  I've known Amelia for years, but we lost touch, so I'm so glad that Jackson and Emily are in the same class this year so we could all be friends (again).  Thank you, Emily, Jacob, and Amelia!!

Maybe a new birthday tradition...

I just have one brother and his birthday is 5 days before mine, so it's been pretty easy to keep up with him. Jim, however, has 3 brothers and a sister, and now 3 of his siblings are married, so the birthday's just keep adding up. My forgetful brain can NOT keep up. Anyway, I've been looking for a cute and thoughtful way to send birthday greetings to all the aunts and uncles since we've been married. Almost 4 years later I think I finally have an idea! My idea is to make a birthday sign every year and have the boys take a picture with the sign for whatever family member has a birthday. Then send the person the picture with birthday greetings. Then every year they will have a different picture with the boys as they grow and I won't feel guilty missing anyone's birthday without proper acknowledgement. I also thought that it would make a great photo album for us if we keep each person's birthday picture with the boys and watch their growth progression ...

Can I finally join the club??

I have issues with making anything with yeast.  It scares me.  I tried making rolls or bread in home-ec as a kid and it was a FLOP!  Since, I stay far away from baking goods with yeast, so of course, that includes homemade bread.  I LOVE homemade bread, but I've never made it.  I realize I'm not a real Mormon wife and mother because of this huge flaw, but I've managed to make it as a so-so wife and mom with this awful glitch in my character.  Then I came across an "easy" recipe for honey wheat bread (thanks for posting it on fb Liz Nuffer) and decided to conquer my fear of yeast. First things first, I had to buy yeast- there are 394 different kinds of yeast.  No one warned me how many different kinds there were!  My fear began to overcome me, but I gathered all my strength and picked the most interestingly plain kind I could find.  Hopefully it would do the trick! I followed the recipe, but it said to wait until the yeast "frothed". ...

The end of school; the end of an era

Soooo, it's been awhile since I've posted, and by "awhile" I mean a year ago.  Oops.  I'm so busy during the school year with my own classes that I forget to post in the blog.  I'll try to do better, especially for our family that lives far away. The end of this school year was crazy!  I felt like I was running in circles working in the PTA- there was so much to do!  I thought joining the PTA would be some good volunteer time at the boys' school- I had NO idea just how much time it takes!  Next year, I'll be a little more prepared because I know what's coming.  And that's not even the crazy part- Jackson has finished elementary and Harrison graduated from pre-k.  That's crazy!  Where did the time go?! Harrison's graduation was first, so I'll start there.  It was soooo sweet and so cute, and I cried like a baby because he IS my baby.  This tiny person is such a perfect little caboose for our family.  Recently, I've been thin...
