Quick Nuffer Catch-up

So I've been totally ignoring the blog this month.  I don't know if I've been too lazy or too buzy- probably a combination of both.  Anyway, here's a quick catch up.
  1. The boys have been sick A LOT!  Austin has been to the doctor more since he turned 1 than Jackson had in his first 3 years of life.  We were going to the doctor a few times a week for awhile.  This is difficult for a couple reasons:  First, I'm a mom and it's hard to see my babies sick.  And second, because I am a germ-a-phobe with OCD (I don't think it gets much worse than that) and I just see germs creeping and crawling ALL OVER MY HOUSE!  The boys never passed around the same virus, thank goodness, but they kept picking up new viruses.  I'm not sure which is worse.  Anyway, as of Saturday night Austin has yet another ear infection.  I'm going to start looking into some more natural ways of keeping in the ear infections at bay like oils, vitamins, and probiotics.  So if any of you have any knowledge of these things or books that I can read about them please share all your knowledge with me.  ;)
  2. My littlest buddy still isn't walking, but he's already showing letter recognition and he'll repeat certain words randomly.  He'll take 2-3 steps then realize he's walking unassisted and fall.  It's all a mental game now.  He's not talking really, but he's great with sign language.  Next Saturday a very good friend of mine who is a sign language interpreter is starting a sign language class for kids and their parents, so Jim and I will be taking the boys to her house every Saturday.  The boys will love it, especially Big Poppa.
  3. Jackson is a very healthy 3 year old, and I know this because he is testing every last nerve I have!  I was a nanny during my undergrad and I learned that the "terrible 2's" has nothing on the "That's it!  I'm selling you on EBay 3's".  I think he just needs to be challenged more mentally, so I'm working on that.  Good news!  We finally found a pre-school that we love that's not full-time.  He'll start St Luke's Pre-school in the fall.  He's super excited and so are we!  In our house we share a car to cut on expenses, so the boys and I will be taking Jim to work M/W/F bright and early at 6am so that I have the car to take Jackson to school, but Jim and I really think it's worth it.  Plus, since I'll have the car I can sign Austin up for some Mommy and Me classes.  He'll have a blast and he'll get some one on one time with mom!
  4. Jim still really likes his job and he's doing well in school.  He made a 3.0 last semester.  I'm very proud of him.  I'm still in graduate school and I'm currently taking the hardest class I've ever had.  I can't wait till I can say this class is OVER!  Too bad I've only finished week 1 or 11.
Anyway, that's us in a nutshell, a really big nutshell, but you get the jist.

  1. We love St. Luke's! Spencer just finished his first year and we will be back in the fall for the 4 year old class. I completely understand the "I want to sell you on Ebay 3's!" We've been there too!

  2. Awesome! Jackson will be there and so will another little boy for church. Maybe they'll all be in the same class! I'm glad I'm not alone in my EBay thoughts... ;)

If you decorate, it will come.

A friend of mine uses the motto, "if you decorate, it will come". So I decorated for fall because I want the fall weather to get here already. I'm a pregnant lady who doesn't like the heat when I'm not pregnant, so I'm especially not fond of it right now. It's supposed to be in the low 80's here, but instead it's in the high flippin' 90's! A friend of mine has a fabulous blog, http://smallsimplethingswithlove.blogspot.com, and it is my FAVORITE blog, so check it out. Nicole, is talented and creative and on a budget!! (my 3 favorite things) Anyway, she had some really cute ideas on her blog that I stole and it got me in the mood for decorating! This picture is of our entry way, by our front door. My favorite part is the autumn picture which I made with my handy-dandy Cricut machine. My husband even helped, hehe. I've had the frame for at least 10 years and I just took out the old ugly picture of the flower that was in it and crea

Maybe a new birthday tradition...

I just have one brother and his birthday is 5 days before mine, so it's been pretty easy to keep up with him. Jim, however, has 3 brothers and a sister, and now 3 of his siblings are married, so the birthday's just keep adding up. My forgetful brain can NOT keep up. Anyway, I've been looking for a cute and thoughtful way to send birthday greetings to all the aunts and uncles since we've been married. Almost 4 years later I think I finally have an idea! My idea is to make a birthday sign every year and have the boys take a picture with the sign for whatever family member has a birthday. Then send the person the picture with birthday greetings. Then every year they will have a different picture with the boys as they grow and I won't feel guilty missing anyone's birthday without proper acknowledgement. I also thought that it would make a great photo album for us if we keep each person's birthday picture with the boys and watch their growth progression

Jackson turns 3!! Blue's Clues Extravaganza!

My oldest baby boy turned 3 this week. I know parents say this all the time, but I can't believe how fast the time goes. Next year he'll be getting ready for pre-school, then kindergarten, and I'm still wrapping my head around him being in a big boy bed. Time flies when you don't want it too. I planned on a Sesame Street party this year because he loved Sesame Street, but that was before he was introduced to Blue's Clues. Now it's Blue's Clues this and Blue's Clues that. So I switched the theme 2 weeks before his birthday, but Jim and I pulled it off. We made all the decorations ourselves and most of the party favors as well. So this birthday was exactly what Jackson wanted and it was a very frugal party too. Win, win! Austin ate some breakfast before the festivities began. Unfortunately, he fell asleep just as the party started. Happy 3rd Birthday Jackson! We made all the Blue's Clues decorations by hand with craft paper, marker
