Where Are They Now: Jackson and Austin

So there used to be a show, and maybe it's still around, called "Where Are They Now", and basically the whole premise of the show was to give updates on actors that were famous (or infamous) back in the day.  Anyway, it's time again for the Nuffer rendition of "Where Are They Now" featuring my favorite little bugs, Jackson and Austin!  If you want to see the last Nuffer rendition of "Where Are They Now" you can find it here.

First up, Jackson!  Jackson is 3, but he'll be 4 next month!
**Fresh from the horses mouth!
Favorite toy:  "Uh, blocks."
Favorite past-time:  "Um... read books."
Favorite color:  "GREEN!"
Favorite clothes:  "Hot dog shirt!"  And sure enough he asked to wear his hot dog shirt today, how appropriate!  PS  I bought him this shirt because last summer his favorite shirt had a hot dog on it and it said, "What's up dog".  He loved that shirt, so when I found this shirt I just knew he would love it as well.
What do you want to be when you grow up?  "I want to be Daddy."  I love this answer!
Favorite food:  "Hot dogs."  Of course.
Favorite thing to do with Daddy:  "Play with him."
Favorite thing to do with Mommy:  "To be nice with her."  hahahahahaha!!!  And read.  I hear, "can we read my books to read all by myself, please?" all day long.
Favorite thing to do with Austin:  "To play with blocks with him."  They do play blocks a lot.

PS this is his "smile for the camera" face...

Now it's Austin's turn!  Austin is 15 months.
Favorite toy:  His blanket.  He carries his blanket with him everywhere!  And if anyone (even Mommy) touches his blanket then there will be immediate repercussions.
Favorite past-time:  Climbing!  He tries to climb everything and it's about to give me a heart attack!
Favorite color:  It seems to be Green, also.
Favorite clothes:  NONE!  He hates getting dressed and getting his diaper changed.  It's such a struggle.  For a little guy he sure is strong!
What do you want to be when you grow up:  I'm guessing a gymnast because he loves to climb so much, and hid in small places.
Favorite food:  Fruit!  Any fruit, except melons of any kind.  Last night I don't even think he chewed the peaches and nectarines Daddy gave him.
Favorite thing to do with Daddy:  Wrestle.
Favorite thing to do with Mommy:  Snuggle.
Favorite thing to do with Jackson:  Rub his head.  I don't know why Austin likes to rub Jackson's head, but he does it all. the. time.

The end of school; the end of an era

Soooo, it's been awhile since I've posted, and by "awhile" I mean a year ago.  Oops.  I'm so busy during the school year with my own classes that I forget to post in the blog.  I'll try to do better, especially for our family that lives far away. The end of this school year was crazy!  I felt like I was running in circles working in the PTA- there was so much to do!  I thought joining the PTA would be some good volunteer time at the boys' school- I had NO idea just how much time it takes!  Next year, I'll be a little more prepared because I know what's coming.  And that's not even the crazy part- Jackson has finished elementary and Harrison graduated from pre-k.  That's crazy!  Where did the time go?! Harrison's graduation was first, so I'll start there.  It was soooo sweet and so cute, and I cried like a baby because he IS my baby.  This tiny person is such a perfect little caboose for our family.  Recently, I've been thin...

Maybe a new birthday tradition...

I just have one brother and his birthday is 5 days before mine, so it's been pretty easy to keep up with him. Jim, however, has 3 brothers and a sister, and now 3 of his siblings are married, so the birthday's just keep adding up. My forgetful brain can NOT keep up. Anyway, I've been looking for a cute and thoughtful way to send birthday greetings to all the aunts and uncles since we've been married. Almost 4 years later I think I finally have an idea! My idea is to make a birthday sign every year and have the boys take a picture with the sign for whatever family member has a birthday. Then send the person the picture with birthday greetings. Then every year they will have a different picture with the boys as they grow and I won't feel guilty missing anyone's birthday without proper acknowledgement. I also thought that it would make a great photo album for us if we keep each person's birthday picture with the boys and watch their growth progression ...

Can I finally join the club??

I have issues with making anything with yeast.  It scares me.  I tried making rolls or bread in home-ec as a kid and it was a FLOP!  Since, I stay far away from baking goods with yeast, so of course, that includes homemade bread.  I LOVE homemade bread, but I've never made it.  I realize I'm not a real Mormon wife and mother because of this huge flaw, but I've managed to make it as a so-so wife and mom with this awful glitch in my character.  Then I came across an "easy" recipe for honey wheat bread (thanks for posting it on fb Liz Nuffer) and decided to conquer my fear of yeast. First things first, I had to buy yeast- there are 394 different kinds of yeast.  No one warned me how many different kinds there were!  My fear began to overcome me, but I gathered all my strength and picked the most interestingly plain kind I could find.  Hopefully it would do the trick! I followed the recipe, but it said to wait until the yeast "frothed". ...
