Valentines Day 2015

Oh, how I love thee, Valentine's Day!  This year was wonderful!  I really really appreciate not being pregnant this time around.  It was a really nice day and Jim spoiled me with candy and roses, but my favorite part, it's always my favorite part, is the sweet love note he wrote me.  I LOVE flowers and Dove chocolate truffles are one of my favorite candies on the planet, but I really don't care about those things at all (sorry, babe), it's the note that I want.  Heart day is always about telling the people you love that you love them, and why you love them.  I kind of failed this year...  We bought the boys little Lego Star Wars things and some treats, but I forgot to write them little Valentines notes and Jackson asked me where his note was.  I felt awful that I forgot!  Duh!  I was so busy thinking of cute ways to make their Valentine's Day special that I forgot the most important part, but my sweet boy remembered.  Oops!  I'm even tempted to nix all gifts next year, and only write sweet notes.
We'll see...

Friday was Jackson's class Valentine's party.
We told him that I couldn't make it because I had his brothers and it was just too much commotion to take his brothers to his class party.  He asked over and over again for Jim or me to come to his party.
Little did he know, I was always going to go to his Valentines party!
He was so so so excited to see us show up.  He almost noticed I was there, but mostly he was stoked to see his brothers.  Story of my life as Jackson's mom.  ;)

We started the morning with special heart shaped breakfast treats!
I meant to cut out some heart shaped cantaloupe, but I forgot.  Besides only Austin and I eat canteloupe, and 50% of the time Austin doesn't like canteloupe.

They turned out pretty good!

I didn't want Harrison to have all the sugar that the sweet rolls had, so I gave him a heart shaped frozen waffle (frozen waffles are great for teething babies, just a little fyi for ya).

Is it just me or does he look a little fearful eating his waffle?  Maybe he thinks someone is going to take his delicious heart day treat?

I had heart shaped sandwiches on the menu for lunch time, but we were out running errands and ended up eating out, but the Freddy's we had was delicious!
Dinner was our old tradition of a heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's.  Jackson has never liked pizza so I got this heart hot dog idea from my dear friend, April, and made Jackson's dinner a little love note (you know, since I totally spaced on his real love note from mama).

As always, I had to take a few pictures of my littlest valentines in their Valentine's outfits.

The boys made some really cute Valentines too!
Some of the "reasons" they listed were a little hilarious...
Jackson loves daddy because of his curly hair.
Austin loves grandma so much he's going to die!

Another great Valentine's comes and goes, and we were able to give lots of love and remind one another just how much we love each other!

Happy Valentine's Day!

The end of school; the end of an era

Soooo, it's been awhile since I've posted, and by "awhile" I mean a year ago.  Oops.  I'm so busy during the school year with my own classes that I forget to post in the blog.  I'll try to do better, especially for our family that lives far away. The end of this school year was crazy!  I felt like I was running in circles working in the PTA- there was so much to do!  I thought joining the PTA would be some good volunteer time at the boys' school- I had NO idea just how much time it takes!  Next year, I'll be a little more prepared because I know what's coming.  And that's not even the crazy part- Jackson has finished elementary and Harrison graduated from pre-k.  That's crazy!  Where did the time go?! Harrison's graduation was first, so I'll start there.  It was soooo sweet and so cute, and I cried like a baby because he IS my baby.  This tiny person is such a perfect little caboose for our family.  Recently, I've been thin...

Maybe a new birthday tradition...

I just have one brother and his birthday is 5 days before mine, so it's been pretty easy to keep up with him. Jim, however, has 3 brothers and a sister, and now 3 of his siblings are married, so the birthday's just keep adding up. My forgetful brain can NOT keep up. Anyway, I've been looking for a cute and thoughtful way to send birthday greetings to all the aunts and uncles since we've been married. Almost 4 years later I think I finally have an idea! My idea is to make a birthday sign every year and have the boys take a picture with the sign for whatever family member has a birthday. Then send the person the picture with birthday greetings. Then every year they will have a different picture with the boys as they grow and I won't feel guilty missing anyone's birthday without proper acknowledgement. I also thought that it would make a great photo album for us if we keep each person's birthday picture with the boys and watch their growth progression ...

Can I finally join the club??

I have issues with making anything with yeast.  It scares me.  I tried making rolls or bread in home-ec as a kid and it was a FLOP!  Since, I stay far away from baking goods with yeast, so of course, that includes homemade bread.  I LOVE homemade bread, but I've never made it.  I realize I'm not a real Mormon wife and mother because of this huge flaw, but I've managed to make it as a so-so wife and mom with this awful glitch in my character.  Then I came across an "easy" recipe for honey wheat bread (thanks for posting it on fb Liz Nuffer) and decided to conquer my fear of yeast. First things first, I had to buy yeast- there are 394 different kinds of yeast.  No one warned me how many different kinds there were!  My fear began to overcome me, but I gathered all my strength and picked the most interestingly plain kind I could find.  Hopefully it would do the trick! I followed the recipe, but it said to wait until the yeast "frothed". ...
